Evaluation of TMPA 3B42-V7 Product on Extreme Precipitation Estimates

Availability of precipitation data at high spatial and temporal resolution is crucial for the understanding behaviors that are determinant environmental aspects such as hydrology, ecology, social like agriculture, food security, or health issues. This study evaluates performance 3B42-V7 satellite-based product on extreme estimates in China, by using Fuzzy C-Means algorithm L-moment-based regional frequency analysis method. The China Gauge-based Daily Precipitation Analysis (CGDPA) employed to measure estimation biases 3B42-V7. Results show that: (1) most regions Generalized Extreme Value Normal distributions preferable estimates; (2) estimations different return periods have a correlation with those CGDPA, within 25% majority estimates.
